Where does all my money go?

Girl, I ask myself the same thing every time payday comes around. It’s like as soon as that deposit hits, it vanishes into thin air. Between classes, that draining part-time job, and trying to keep up with life, it feels like everything’s working against my wallet lately.

Okay back to the part time job, why is there never any money left by the end of PAYDAY?? Like I get paid every two weeks and it never lasts me till the next pay day. Credit Card bills, Car insurance, that dumb part payment I have for my 20 inch wig, Gym memberships and the list goes on and onnnnnnnn. But you know what I realized lately? You know that drink you buy everyyyyytime you get ‘stressed out’ (let’s be honest that’s like almost everyday), or the sweets you get to ‘reward’ yourself… it all adds up.

Yeah I know  “It’s just $3”, that can’t possibly hurt your bank account. Okay let us pull out our calculators and do some 3rd grade maths. If you’re stressed out on Monday, on Tuesday, on Wednesday, on Thursday, on Friday.. that’s $3 x 5 days = $15. Now stay with me, you do this every month, (disclaimer more math) so for one month, we have 4 weeks right? 4 x15 = $60. That’s like another gym membership lol.

Why don’t we look for other ways to reward ourselves??

Like:
✨ Trying some RELAXING games like Sims or Township.
✨ Journaling or venting in your Notes app (it counts, trust me).
✨ Doing a little self-care night, face mask, candles, and silence.
✨ Or even better, putting that $3 a day into a “treat myself later” jar. Imagine opening that at the end of the month and realizing you’ve saved $60 without even trying.

You don’t have to spend money every time you need comfort. Sometimes, rest is the real reward.

And honestly, when you start seeing financial discipline as a form of self-care, saving stops feeling like punishment, it becomes another way to protect your peace. Strict, joyless budgets never last anyway. What works better is balance, something flexible, like the 70-20-10 rule:
70% of your income goes to needs and lifestyle (yes, your comfort moments count too).
20% goes to savings or investments.
10% goes to generosity, personal growth, or experiences that make you better.

You can always tweak the numbers depending on your income, but the point is, you don’t have to cut out joy to build stability. You just have to plan for it.

At the end of the day, self-care isn’t just about candles and skincare, it’s also about peace of mind. Rest, save, and show up for yourself. That’s the real kind of freedom and that’s what A Woman’s Nest is all about.

We are all about, creating a safe space where women can grow, learn, and take care of themselves in every way, that includes learning to manage your finances.

Welcome to The Nest Collection, a series designed to help you build balance in your finances, your mind, and your life.
